THURSDAY, 28 MARCH 1751, Whitehall Evening Post 801,
York, March 26 – On Sunday last one John JAMES, otherwise James WHITNEY, otherwise John ROWLAND, otherwise Thomas TAYLOR, was committed to the Castle here, for Stealing a Bay Horse, the property of Thomas BARKER, of Barnby Moor in the County of Nottingham, Gentleman. He told the Persons who apprehended him, that as to the Charge about the Horse he did not care one farthing, but there were other Things which he knew would hang him, and owned that he had been a smuggler for 13 Years, and was outlawed.
