Barnby Moor, Nottinghamshire
Barnby Moor, April 28th 1794
Riding out with James this fine mornning to fetch some livestock going to Retford Market up the Great North Rd, coming to a bridge that crosses the Chesterfield canal, this was the place they call Barnby Whalf here was a very bizzy place with boats carrying lead ore from the Derbyshire mines.

front of Ye Old Bell
At Barnby on the Turnpike road from Retford in 1776 there seems to have been two pulic houses, The White Horse, also Ye Old Bell Inn which has been serving the gentry ale since at least 1680, in the 18th and 19th centries it was know as the Blue Bell.

Courtyard about 1910
Rear court yard with tethering post for the horses, out buildings that I asume one must have been the Brewery, where all the ale and other drinks were done, also as seen car parking where in the picture looks like old Rolls Royce.
