Barnby Moor, Nottinghamshire
Barnby Moor, March 16th 1923
Another trip to the Retford market buying stock for my masters farm. he looking for a couple of jersey cows for milking also a bull if there is a jersey one.
Barnby Moor is on the edge of Sherwood Forest the Ye Olde Bell is full of charm and characters. In the heart of Nottinghamshire's beautiful countryside.

The Kings Birthday the flag flies
Ye Olde Bell is full of charm and character that you would expect from one of England's oldest coaching inns, with its oak panelled rooms, log fires and leaded windows. This day must have been the kings birthday as the flags are flying outside the front entrance.

Front about 1910
Ye Olde Bell is situated on cross roads as there they could get double the amount of travellers and being a coaching Inn it would be able to give the coach fresh horses to continue the rest of there journey.

Motoring Headquarters
A Motoring Association a club called The Road club "Retford branch" used the Bell as there Headquarters and there meetings, the club itself was recognised by the Royal Automobile Association in about 1915.

The Wiseton Room
The room is named after one of the Local families who lived in Wiseton Hall its decor was like that of the Hall full of richness, elegance and comfort with the feeling of warmth, I can visualise the place full of travellers just sitting down for lunch before they travel depart on there journey.

Outside the small allotments
All home grown produce from our gardens the sign says it must have been a mammoth task keeping up with the cooks back in the 19th century.
