SATURDAY, 9 FEBRUARY 1889, Newcastle Weekly Courant 11169,
OLD CHURCH DOORS – The great doors, with wicket doorway and spy-hole, of the Carthusian Priory of Beauvale Notts, have long lain neglected at Melbourne Hall, being brought there when the old gatehouse was pulled down in the last century. The present tenant, Mr FANE, has placed them under cover. They are in fair condition, the oak bolted through with great clout anils, and are carved in panels with interesting tracery above. The date seems to be 1350-1380. Mr FANE has lately brought to light among the COLE papers, the original voluminous charter with great seal attached, granting the lands of the dissolved priory of Beauvale. (This item was part of a larger article with the subject “Old Church Doors” written in reply to a correspondent to the newspaper)

WEDNESDAY, 21 FEBRUARY 1900, Derby Mercury 9658,
The Hon Sir Frederick James LAMB was born in April 1782 and married in 1811, a foreign lady, Alexandrina Julia Theresa Wilhelmina Sophia, daughter of Joachim Charles Louis Mortimer, Count of Maltzau, Prussian Envoy at Vienna. Sir Frederick was raised to the Peerage as Baron Beauvale on 30th April 1839, when he took his title from his country seat of Beauvale Notts. His Lordship succeeded his brother the Prime Minister as third and last Viscount Melbourne on 24th November 1848, and died in 1853, when all the titles became extinct. (this was extracted from a larger newspaper item)
