White Lodge Cottage, June 15th c1961

White lodge old coach rd, Wollaton (farm cottage) just inside the boundary of the large Willoughby estate of Wollaton. The ground or lands were about one and a half acres, and we prejudiced lots of fruit and vegetables that were grown all year round to feed the family..

Being part of the Willoughby estate of Lord Middleton, who used to travel this road on his way to the village of Strelley and the home of the squire at Strelley Hall, In this cottage there was a wine cellar, probably this was here because in bad weather stopped and had a glass.

The last occupants of the cottage before it was demolished in 1967 were the family of William Wigley, who used to work at Old Park farm, where he work for some 35years.

Here we see George on a sunny day with sithe in his hands possibly cutting hay or tiding the hedgerows

Councillor John Kenyon (right), chatting to some committee members of the community Association about converting a Stable and store shed into a attractive community room, that was opened by Mr Kenyon as the J.V.Jessler room, named after the president of the Association. In the center is 71 year old Mr George Wigley, an employee of the farm and Community center for "?" years.
