Miss Russell, who devoted all her life to club work particularly in the Wollaton and Bilborough district. She was the daughter of the former vicar of Wollaton, the Rev H. C. Russell, and she lived with her sister, Miss. M. Russell, at The Forge Cottage, St. Martin Road, Bilborough.

This was where in 1937 she founded Bilborough Community Association, now known as Manor Farm. Miss Russell until 1948 held office as chairman when she then became its president.

Her interest in social work started with the Wollaton Girls Club which she was associated with for many years, up to 1943. In Nottingham she gave her name to the Russell Club then run as two separate clubs. At the time of her death Miss Russell was vice-chairman of Bilborough Youth Club, vice-president of the Nottingham Association of Girls' Clubs and vice president of the National Association of Girls' Clubs.

Miss Russell was the sister of Sir Thomas Russell, better known as Russell Pasha, who was commandant of the Cairo police force and head of the anti-narcotic bureau.

The Funeral was held at Wollaton
