Bingham, Nottinghamshire

Bingham, April 1947

Bingham, which gives its name to one of the Hundreds of the County, has seen days of much more spacious area like most of the villages, on the South side of the Trent, It has shrunk in size through the last century, there used to be about one thousand inhabitants now the population has grown as the influx from citys like Nottingham, and Newark. .

Most Nottingham people see this village as they pass on there way to Skegness or Mablethorpe for there holidays or on day trips to the coast. The village today is off the main track as the by-pass road between Nottingham and Grantham..

Looking carefully one can see three coachways leading away from Wollaton road , one opposite the hall gardens became Old Coach road going past Old park farm and on to Strelley village, again leading off this one is the coach road to Aspley Hall, the last is at the side of Wollaton bridge and leads to Strelley lane and into Strelley.
