CARDIGAN – Our parish church was numerously attended to hear a sermon from the Rev Robt MILES, who is the encumbent of Bingham near Nottingham. He is the owner of nearly all the town, which was the property of the late Phillip John MILES Esq of Bristol. (Short version of story)

SKETCH OF MR LOWE M.P. – This article was a very long biography of Mr LOWE, M.P. for Kidderminster, son of the late Rev Robert LOWE, rector of Bingham Notts, and Ellen, second daughter of the Rev Reginald PYNDER, Madresfield Worcestershire. Mr LOWE jun was born 1811 in Bingham Notts. Many details in the article on him, and also his father the Rev Robert LOWE who was responsible for changing how the Workhouses were run throughout England after his work at Bingham.

MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL – DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES – The annual distribution of prizes to the students at this hospital took place on Thursday, under the presidency of the Bishop of London. Prize for Descriptive and Surgical Anatomy went to Mr James William EATON of Bingham Notts.

EXTRAORDINARY ASSAULT ON A LADY – At the Bingham (Notts) petty sessions Capt DAKEYNE of East Bridford Hall was charged with assaulting Mrs Susan Mary DOUBLEDAY in a railway carriage on the Great Northern Railway at Bingham on the 21st November. She had been at the Nottingham Theatre and was returning home. Other passengers left the train and she was then alone in the carriage with the defendant. He made conversation with her and then crossed to her side of the carriage and attempted to kiss her. On arriving at the station she complained of having been insulted. Mr NICHOLSON, the stationmaster, said she was much agitated. The Bench fined him 5/- including costs. He was further charged with interfering with the comfort of passengers and was fined 40s and costs.
