WRIGHT – Bramcote and Stapleford – Country Residence, Farm Buildings, and Farming and Building Land, to be sold by Auction at the George the Fourth Hotel in Nottingham on the 27th June 1854. To be sold in 10 Lots, including Mansion at Bramcote in the occupation of William CRIPPS Esq, plus newly-erected farmhouse etc at Bramcote in the occupation of Mr Wm NEWNHAM, plus pasture land known as “Deep Dykes or Spring Close” in occupation of John HADDON Esq. also “Clover Close” in the occupation of John HADDON Esq. (Shortened version of the advertisement, which also included all the properties at Stapleford)

Saturday, 29 July 1854, Ipswich Journal 6012,
MELANCHOLY DEATH – A dreadful accident which terminated fatally occurred on Friday last, to the wife of Mr John HADDON, a captain in the South Notts Yeomanry, of Bramcote near Nottingham. While Mr HADDON was attending the neighbouring races, Mrs HADDON had occasion to go into the kitchen and when near the fire the sleeve of her dress became ignited. She strove to extinguish the flames but, in doing so, parts of her dress took fire. Two servants were in the room, and in their alarm ran out of the house for assistance to some haymakers in a field adjoining. The unfortunate lady was however burnt to such a degree that she expired early on Saturday morning.
