Publicans of the White Lion

The White Lion in is situated about 300yards up Main Street from the old school or reading room on the left it is raised from the road, with access via the front door up a small flight of stonesteps.

Edward Walker, (Ted) 1907-1932

Edward Walker was born in Lowdham Nottinghamshire, 23rd November 1856. son of William Walker & Frances Sharp, he came to live in Bramcote in 1891, at a house on Church Street, where his occupation at this time was a coal-miner, it was not until 1907 after living in church street for some years that he became the Landlord of The White Lion (Top House) as it was called by the locals.

Here is where he stayed for some 28 years, Edward must have been a man that loved his work, Edward passed away in January 1935.
